Part of them consisting of ancient coins coming from from different regions of ancient world, were formed before World War II, in different regions of Poland. The coins found their way into the Łódź Museum collections in the 1950s and 1960s, when their owners were residing in Łódź. Only three collections, those assembled by K.Zbichorski( 1907-1983), W.Głuchowski(1904-1977) and W.Szczygielski (1905-1989) the historian and numismatist, were formed in Łódź itself.
